Day 1. From Office Desk to Phuket Dash

So there we were rushing out from 6 pm work like sprinters, as we were to catch our 7.40pm flight to Phuket. As we headed to the airport, the sky decided to give us a preview of what we might be in for - a gloomy, brooding overture to our adventure. In my quest for budget travel, I had booked this flight with gleeful abandon, completely forgetting that it was monsoon season in Southeast Asia, and needless to say, the chances of rain are extremely likely. So that explains the jaw-droppingly cheap fares! But hey, who needs sunshine and clear skies when you can have a wild monsoon adventure in the tropics, right? Yes . Well, this is how I reassured myself and rallied the troops.

Touchdown at Phuket Airport – A 'Ripe' Arrival at 9.45 PM

We finally landed in Phuket at the ripe hour of 9.45 PM, just in time for the party animals to come out and play! Our hotel, conveniently located in the heart of the Patong District, was the perfect base camp for our nocturnal adventures. With a quick and slightly chaotic self-check-in, we dropped our bags and dashed for the door. The night was young, and Patong was calling our names – it was time to paint the town red. Surprisingly, despite the weather forecast, instead of rain-soaked adventures, we found ourselves in the midst of a humid and dry night. It's like Mother Nature had a change of heart!

Strolling Down Bangla Road:

Here I am, back on Bangla Road for the eighth time, thinking I've seen it all. But surprise, surprise, Bangla Road still manages to pull a new rabbit out of its neon hat every time! As you wander down this famous strip, you're basically a character in a live-action video game -neon lights, throbbing music, and colorful characters that greet you at every turn. You'll encounter enthusiastic club promoters trying to lure you into their dens of debauchery with promises of 'the best party in town'. If you ever needed a reminder that life is a delightful carnival, Bangla Road is it!

Day 2: Island Hopping Adventures in Phi Phi - Hold Onto Your Coconuts!

Island tour day! As predicted, the weather was a bit moody, with overcast skies and waves that decided to throw a party of their own. Though we only got tiny drizzles that come and go, but the wind? Oh boy, it was strong enough to give our speed boat a little shake – it was like a theme park ride. Now, let's talk about the rollercoaster ride of emotions onboard. With trusty puke bags and grandma's cure-all essential oil , ie white flower oil at the ready, we're geared up for the action. But some of our fellow passengers apparently didn't have their sea legs, and the waves got the better of them, and an unplanned rendezvous with the puke bags was inevitable.

Our adventure took us to three stops, and while Maya Bay was off-limits for now, we still got to admire its beauty from a distance. Each stop felt like stepping into a postcard. Crystal-clear, turquoise waters, powdery sands, and the sweetest coconut water you can imagine. We jumped, splashed, and posed for jump shots that could rival any Olympic athlete's high jump. And don't even get me started on the photos – we snapped enough to fill an entire cloud storage server! In a nutshell, our day in Phi Phi and its neighboring islands was a mix of adventure, a touch of queasiness, and an overload of fun. We might have had a bumpy start, but isn't that what makes an adventure truly memorable?
